I made a tool to export annotations (highlights and notes) from my Kobo Libra Colour to a .txt file since it is a feature I’ve been wanting.
I eventually want to export annotations in MLA 9th edition, ebook style but, I still need to do the proper SQL query and formatting. For now it outputs to the .txt file as seen below.

I really need to complete my Operating Systems assignment (making a small Shell program) but, I thought I could reuse some of the ideas in my last file assignment to export annotations from my KLC. It’s really a work in progress but, it does work!

export_MLA.c file here:

Example output:
Last night I started reading “The Gutenberg Elegies: The Fate of Reading in an Electronic Age” by Sven Birkerts. Here are some exported highlights:

“The heralds of the new—the so-called digerati—were proselytizing zealously for a new world order, while the skeptics chewed nervously at their cuticles and feared the demise of all they held dear.
” (Sven Birkerts, The Gutenberg Elegies: The Fate of Reading in an Electronic Age).

“But the belief in the gathered weight of literary expression, what we used to consider our cultural ballast, is fading and is likely to fade further.
” (Sven Birkerts, The Gutenberg Elegies: The Fate of Reading in an Electronic Age).
